Başkent University is a private foundation university with public legal personality, established by Government Decree No. 515 on September 14, 1993, and Law No. 3961 on January 14, 1994.
Health studies initiated by the Turkey Organ Transplant and Burn Treatment Foundation in 1982 have today evolved into a modern and technological diagnostic and treatment center with a total capacity of 526 beds. The center includes 57,505 square meters of closed area, 368 beds (79 of which are intensive care), 90 beds at Ayaş Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center, and 68 beds (28 of which are in the palliative care unit) at Yapracık Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Center. With 16 operating rooms, our hospital provides 24/7 uninterrupted services. There is also a unit where outpatient day patients are admitted without being placed in a ward, supported by a 6-bed observation room.
Since January 2010, we have launched a series of efforts to meet the growing demand for healthcare services and to provide health services in a modern physical environment. In 2012, we continued offering services with a renewed approach to meet the increasing demand for healthcare from our patients and their relatives, ensuring the most comfortable health service.
Başkent University Ankara Hospital operates with a range of specialized centers, including the
Organ Transplant Center, In Vitro Fertilization Center, and the Genetic Diseases Diagnostic Center, as well as the Ayaş Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center, Çiğdem Dialysis Center, Yenikent Dialysis Center, Yenikent Neighborhood Polyclinic, Ümitköy Neighborhood Polyclinic, and Ümitköy Dialysis Center located at different locations across Ankara. Quality improvement activities at Başkent University Hospitals and Application and Research Centers have been ongoing since 1997. All of our centers fulfill the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Standard and are certified by the Turkish Standards Institute. Moreover, our hospital is the first foundation hospital to receive an ISO quality certificate.
Our hospital also holds the Baby-Friendly Hospital certificate. Additionally, it ranks first in terms of the number of scientific publications per faculty member. The founder of Başkent University and its founding rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Haberal, is the only rector with the highest number of scientific publications in international literature.
